Chicago IL – A customer at the Meddling Market in the Chicago
Lawn neighborhood was arrested today charged with attempting
to purchase a cup of coffee at a discount without the Meddling
Market identification discount card.

Willi Everlearn, 57, of Lawndale, was arrested after he allegedly
tried to persuade the Meddling cashier clerk to scan the universal
Meddling discount card because he had forgotten his in his car.
Prior to the clerk notifying management to get it the discount
cleared , a customer standing in line noticed that earlier the
customer had parked his car behind the store who then tipped of
security.

Juba Lee,12, informed security a theory that if in fact he actually
had a discount card he would not have parked in the non-members
parking. Police were summoned and Everlearn was arrested. The
Cook County Sheriff’s Office is investigating.

Law enforcement officials said Mr. Everlearn told them he
paid $1.99 to the clerk but should have been the regular
$2.99. He is the 52nd customer to be arrested at the
Meddling Market this year.

In the past six months, nearly 80 people have been arrested
for fraudulent statements in order to obtain discounts.
Customers attributes the arrests to the stores heightened
awareness of the problem of non-member falsity of
statements for discounts.

Juba Lee and best friend Ko Kaine, 13, both have received
additional points to their discount point card for their heroic
tip to Meddling employees.

"It is important for would-be lawbreakers to know that this
company is committed to fighting discount fraud," said
Meddling management. "Today’s arrest should serve as a
warning that Meddling Market is not the place to go for
fraudulent statements. If you come in with bogus information
for discounts, plan to leave in handcuffs."

When asked for comment, as Everlearn was being taken into
custody yesterday, his only statement was "Ya! And i would
gotten away with it if it hadn't been for those meddling kids."
